About
Mansoor first learned guitar in 1998 and wrote his first song in 1999 (‘Sarzamin’-The Country) in the Menu album. Previous to that he greatly appreciated a variety of music including reggae, rock, latin, and off course good old Iranian music, specially by Viguen Derderian and many others.
However, prior to that he had no musical training and it was through the crash of asian markets in the mid 90’s that got interested in music!
He started to play guitar and chart Iranian classic songs from the 60’s and 70’s. He met Anne Brace who sang variety of Spanish music and through her introduced to Luigi Ibarra who is a professional latin bass player. Mansoor mainly worked as an software engineer and hold a BS and MS degree in electrical engineering. In 2010 while being out of work, he started to work on song material and finally produced and published the Menu music album in 2011.
My Musical Journey
Michael’s musical journey continued through 2010’s starting with song ‘Parrots’. It was beginning of shift from social critique to a romantic trend. Other songs such as Crossroad and Smile were written for a relationship with a cool artist/painter and love for surf music. Inspired by teachings from self-realization and this time falling in true love, it inspired to write songs like Silent Resistance, Everything Feels Better With You, and I Fly To You, while driving back and forth to LA and traveling with the lover. However, once the covid pandemic hit the scene, it put a damper on song writing till late 2023 and early 2024 which resulted in two more songs: All Things After and Oh, Broken Angel. This completed the album ‘Silent Resistance” with eight all original rock®gae songs written, music and lyrics included. The album was largely produced in Studio 770 by the great guitarist/musician/engineer Brian Pothier. The album was released in June of 2024 online and also by a CD disk set.
